A snow day literally and figuratively falls from the sky, unbidden, and seems like a thing of wonder. Susan Orlean
Northeast of Calgary is supposed to be a good location for spotting snowy owls. I have only seen them at the Calgary Zoo and wanted to photograph one in the wild if possible.
Perhaps it was too cold, or too far past dawn, but the only birds I happened to see on this frigid January day were magpies and ravens. I do love the colours on the magpies.
Driving on a bumpy side road I saw white-tailed deer in the field. The snow made for a hazy picture (which I warmed up a bit in Lightroom).
